Antique Tractor Tires

More and more farmers and those people who work in agriculture are purchasing antique tractor tires. If properly restored, they can work just as well as new ones. It is imperative that you make sure the antique tires you are buying work properly and are not meant for display. You will need to be able to really install them and get them running with your tractor. It is also important to note that you will need to buy tires that will fit on your specific model tractor, since not all tires are of universal size and design. Make sure to do all the necessary research into the tires that you are thinking of buying.

While you may be able to find antique tractor tires at some yard sales or tractor supply stores, your best chances will be with looking on the internet for them. You might be surprised just how many different kinds of antique tires you can find for tractors when you start to look around. Although most of them being sold are really not in good enough to shape to actually run on a tractor over any kind of soil, you can find some that will function properly. When looking at this kind of tires, it is important that you pay attention to the same things as you would with brand new tires.

The first thing to check out is the tread on the tire. Do you need turf tires? Tires with special grips on them? There are many different kinds of specialty tires that are meant for people who do farming and miscellaneous kinds of agricultural work on hardened, frozen soil that is extremely difficult to move over with a tractor. Most normal tractor tires will not being able to handle such terrain, so it's important that you find ones with grips. While most older antique tires will not have these, you might get lucky and find some that do.

When searching online for antique tractor tires, always be sure that the tires you are buying have a detailed description. If at all possible, it would be a good idea to take a look at them yourself in person. If not, just do your best to look over all the details in terms of what the tread is like and how large or small they are. You want them to look nice and have plenty of tread, but also be the right size. It's okay if they are slightly bigger than what you are used to putting on your tractor, but make sure they aren't too big or small.
